Tooth - Teeth Whitening - Huddersfield
Perhaps the most popular cosmetic dental treatment available today is tooth whitening. This is because it is a fast and painless way to an enhanced smile with treatment often carried out within a single appointment.
Tooth colour varies from person to person but over time, colour can degrade due to various factors. Some foods and drinks e.g. tea and coffee stain quite badly - smoking is also contributory to stained teeth. However, most cases can be treated using the latest tooth whitening techniques.
At Edgerton Dental Clinic we offer two types of whitening which are Opalescence and Enlighten Whitening
Enlighten works by increasing the tooth’s permeability to oxygen which breaks down stain molecules.
It is a combination treatment meaning that there is a 2 week home treatment followed by a 1 hour visit to the dentist.
Enlighten Whitening can whiten teeth up to 16 shades.
Results do vary but if used correctly all teeth will whiten dramatically.
No, natural teeth rarely look too white.
Sometimes very white crowns can look wrong because they are made of porcelain.
No, sometimes you may need these changing after whitening.
You may get some sensitivity, however your dentist will give you easy to use desensitisng swabs to take home, which will work immediately.
You will also receive a tube of Tooth Serum toothpaste to brush with, while you wait for your trays, this also helps with sensitivity.
Two weeks after your dentist delivers your Enlighten Whitening trays.
These are thin and comfortable and must be worn in bed for 14 nights, then on the 15th day you need to see your dentist for the second treatment which takes 40 minutes.
Results can last indefinitely with some very simple maintenance, wearing the trays for 1 night every other month.
Continuing to brush with Tooth Serum will also prolong results.
Completely, the materials used in Enlighten Whitening have been used in dentistry for over 100 years.
Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels
Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels allow you to whiten your teeth at your convenience—in a safe, effective, and customized way.
Take Home Whitening Gels are only available from your dentist, who will supervise your treatment from initial consultation through completion. The sticky, viscous gel won’t migrate to gums, and most formulations include Potassium Fluoride (PF), which helps to improve oral health by strengthening enamel, decreasing sensitivity, and offering increased cavity prevention.
Powerful, prescription-strength Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels are available with 10%, 10%PF, 15%PF, 20%PF, and 35%PF carbamide peroxide. Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels can provide results after just one night, though expect to see results in about a week.
Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels are delivered via customized bleaching tray. Your dentist will create this tray from an alginate impression of your mouth; this customization is part of why Opalescence Take Home Whitening Gels are so effective
